In today’s society, men and women alike have been brought up looking at ads, social media, television, and magazines that give us the impression we have to act, dress, look, and be a certain way. As a young woman, I have felt the need to look a specific way and criticized myself for not being able to achieve that perfection.
I have always been a tall, strong girl and in sports that body type was a blessing. But… as a girl, I never felt as dainty and small as I thought I should be.
But why do we care? Why is that we find it so hard to be nice to ourselves and just appreciate who we are?
I believe it’s stemmed from a society that can’t help but pick favorites. For years, being skinny was sexy, now strong is the new sexy. Tomorrow purple hair will be the new sexy! It is really just so exhausting!
There is no way that sexy is defined by one type, one size, one eye color, how much muscle you have, or what your sexual preference is. It’s time to stop the stigmas, and move on to a new generation that loves all and accepts all.
I have days where I feel fantastic, and days when I feel terrible. But, maybe if I start to accept myself, love myself, and be kind to myself, the terrible days will become less and less. And eventually, dissipate completely. Try to be kinder to yourself, because you are sexy, you are beautiful, and life is too short to not believe it.
I’m a beautiful girl with a big butt and strong legs. Yeah, I may have a few dimples here and there, but if I don’t love every single one, then who else can?
